Why I Publish The "Picture Of The Day"
I have always enjoyed looking at pictures. I can spend hours leafing
through stacks of photo albums, reliving the past and appreciating
the lives and experiences of others. I also love to travel and see
new places and things, and one of the fastest and cheapest means of
traveling to a far-away locale is by looking at a photograph. For
instance, I doubt if I'll ever have the opportunity to visit the
moon, but I have been there many times thanks to the wonders of
photography.
I think it's important to honor our heritage. The great men and
women who founded our nation so long ago and the brave patriots who
have fought and died to defend it deserve our honor and respect -
they deserve to be remembered. And so do the grandparents, parents,
aunts, uncles and other ancestors who are responsible for giving us
life and helping us enjoy it. What better way to honor those we love
and respect than with a photograph?
And last but not least, I think it is important that we honor our
Creator, the all-powerful, loving God who created the heavens and
the earth and breathed life into our nostrils - and will take it
away whenever He feels the time has come. We owe our very existence
to Him, and He and His precious Son literally hold the key to our
futures.
Photographs are quite simply snapshots in time, preserving forever
tiny, discrete glimpses into the lives of us humans and of places
that are far away in either distance or time. Every photograph has a
story behind it. That's why I publish the "Picture of the Day".
As you peruse the "Picture of the Day" archives you'll notice that
there is no rhyme or reason to the photographs featured from one day
to the next - they will appear to be random, and for the most part
they are. The images I use simply reflect what I like and believe to
be interesting, beautiful or important. Sometimes you might agree
and sometimes you might not.
I'm not a professional photographer so some of the pictures I
feature might not be very "good", but they all have a special
meaning to me for one reason or another. I hope you enjoy looking at
them and gaining a little insight into my personal viewpoint on
life!
May God bless you and your family,
Rick Rouse |
