This is a great resource for hobbyist, enthusiasts, as well as
professionals. All photographers are always learning, experimenting,
and trying to be the best they can be. Having a great site like this
to learn from is one of the tricks of the trade. Thanks Rick, for
making it a great resource.

Thanks for these pictures. I look at this first thing every day when
I boot the computer. I really appreciated the posting and comments
regarding Grandmother (Marie McVey) and Aunt Billie Jean. Many of
the pictures are like a brief visit "up home" as my dad always
referred to the Wideners Valley area.

Rick,
After seeing many of the pictures posted on your site, how could
anyone deny the existence of God? Also, two songs often come to mind
when viewing the fantastic photos, "Amazing Grace" and
"What A Wonderful World". Thank you for the site and may God
continue to bless you, your family and this wonderful country! By
the way, I'm living in Concord, NC, but I'm proud to say I grew up
in Saltville, VA.

Such a creative Photographer - the statues of
"Don
Quixote" and "Sancho Panza" look like they are
sitting there having a conversation.

Hi Gary,
Congratulations for your photo of
"Don
Quixote" and "Sancho Panza". It's a beautiful photo. I'm not
saying this because your a great and loving son-in-law, but we all
know you are well known for your photo taking skills. We also thank
the people who have chosen this photo for the "Picture of the Day".
We miss you and looking forward to your return back home to
Pennsylvania.

Of course as your wife I love this site. My favorite articles are of
the more personal type, but I'm glad others are enjoying it also -
even if I have to endure those scientific things every now and then.

The picture of the
Watson Mill Bridge in Georgia is excellent and makes you feel
relaxed and happy. Hopefully, such pleasant pictures can make us
proud of ourselves as a Nation and as community minded people. I
look forward to seeing more pictures of Georgia’s covered bridges
and to visit some of them on my next trip to Georgia.

I love to visit Rick's site and was pleasantly surprised to see
mine and Tommy's picture featured as a "Picture of the Day".
TodaysPhoto.org is my favorite site to go and look at our beautiful
region and all it has to offer. Every time I look at the "Picture of
the Day", I am reminded how blessed I am to live in the beautiful
mountains of east TN & sw Va. Thank you, Rick for this wonderful
gift.

This is absolutely one of the BEST sites to see photo's from all
classes photographers. I enjoy looking everyday at the different
perspective the photographers offer. From the simple landscape to
the posed or just the point and shoot. Each person has something to
offer in their shots. TodaysPhoto.org is wonderful and I recommend
it often to many photographers. Thank you for hosting such an
awesome site Rick Rouse and keep up the great work.

Dear Mr. Rouse:
I stumbled across your photos of the day while taking a break at
work, browsing for scenes of home. I grew up in SW Va (Glade Spring)
and in fact my maternal grandfather's family on his mother's side
hailed from the Wideners Valley/Rush Creek area. I really enjoy the
shots you take, you have a lot of talent. They make me less homesick
and more homesick at the same time, somehow--especially considering
that I am viewing them from an office in mid-town Manhattan.
I will tell you one tale of my own. When I visit the area, now all
too infrequently, I stay at the Martha Washington Inn. The text
below your photo mentions the Inn's famous ghosts. Years ago, my
family and I stayed at the Inn. My daughter, Maggie, must have been
six or so (she is now fifteen). I had heard of the Inn's ghosts,
especially the lady who plays the violin upstairs. As it happened,
our room was situated in the very area that her ghost inhabited. My
wife and I decided not to tell Maggie this, for fear of frightening
her. Maggie had a peaceful night's sleep, and when she woke up she
asked us, "Did you hear that music playing in the middle of the
night?" A true story--my wife can attest to it.
Keep up the good work.
