Adobe Lightroom 1.1
If
you have more than a casual interest in photography, you probably know that
Adobe Photoshop is the premier image editing software package on the market
today. Photoshop is packed with powerful features that allow you to manipulate
an image in virtually any way you want - including creating a brand new one!
The problem is that it also comes with a price tag that exceeds that of an entry
level Digital SLR camera!
But with the release of Adobe Lightroom at less than half the price of
Photoshop, the company has made professional-level image editing available to
the masses. This powerful new software is easy to use, yet it offers plenty of
functionality not found in consumer-level products. While it doesn't have all of the features available in
Photoshop, if you shoot in RAW mode it has more than enough of the most
important ones to make it a wise choice and a true bargain.
Lightroom can import over 150 RAW formats as well as the standard JPEG, TIFF and DNG's.
Edits made to one image can be automatically applied to other similar images,
allowing you to spend less time in front of your computer and more of it behind
your camera! And Lightroom's simple, uncluttered interface and superb image
organizer will make you even more productive.
Adobe Lightroom isn't a direct replacement for Photoshop, but if you're
primarily interested in making quick adjustments to multiple RAW files while
avoiding Photoshop's cumbersome interface (not to mention its huge price tag),
you'll probably find that this powerful, yet easy to use program is all you'll
ever need.
