“Big Ben & Parliament”

It was our 20th wedding anniversary in September of this year and as a surprise to my wife, I took her to London for a weekend. She had never been to London before and coming from the small Island of Guernsey she was a bit nervous about the weekend, not just going to the big City but also leaving our 16 year old daughter with the grandparents.

The hotel we were staying in was right in the centre of London, just off the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Bridge. The weather for the weekend was perfect and more like summer, great for walking around and seeing as many sights as possible in our short time.

About this shot, well my wife is not an early bird like me and on Saturday morning I was up and out before my wife was even thinking about opening one eye, let alone two. It was just a short walk from our hotel to the embankment and there was hardly anyone around, so I took about six or seven shots of Big Ben and Parliament and just carried on walking snapping away, without a clue where I was going.

The weekend finished so quickl,y but the memories live on as it was such a fantastic place to visit. I’m sure we will be back there soon. More of my London shots can be found in my Flickr gallery.
