At over 13,000 feet, folks crossing Colorado’s Imogene Pass often find themselves among the clouds. And so it was on the day this photo was taken. Like the rest of the Rockies, the San Juan Mountains offer some pretty amazing scenery, and those who are brave enough to travel the narrow, steep and crooked road up to and over Imogene Pass are sure rewarded with some pretty outstanding views.
Here are the camera and settings used to capture this image:

Mr. Rouse, today’s picture is absolutely stunning. I’ll never understand why the folks who take photos this amazing don’t want to take credit for them.
Beautiful.
WOW!!!
I drove over the Imogene Pass in July 1998, and let me tell you that was an experience because I was completely new to mountain driving. But the sky was clear that day and the view was simply incredible. Speaking of incredible, this shot certainly is.
Yep, I think this qualifies as amazing. Great shot Anonymous.
AWESOME!!
The progression of this scene from bottom to top is exquisite thanks to the vertical composition. I LOVE this!!!!
Anonymous, you have a real masterpiece here. Just lovely!!
What an awesome shot this is. The weather was just perfect for a pic like this.
Lavette hit the nail on the head. This scene was tailor made by the Creator for a vertically oriented shot. Very well done.
Superb effort (whoever you are).

I’ll take a photo this good some day. I know I will. I just have to keep trying…
This is one of the most amazing photos I’ve ever seen.
I really meant to comment on this photo a lot earlier today, but just didn’t. I really like the layers of clouds and the trees disappearing into the fog.
