When done well, nighttime photography can yield some rather amazing photographs, and today’s picture by photographer Ana Meier depicting a full moon over Austria’s Inntal Valley is about as good as it gets. Coming up with the proper exposure for this scene had to be a bit tricky considering the full moon and all, but in my opinion Ms. Meier absolutely nailed it.

I enjoy selecting and publishing the “Picture of the Day” very much because it gives me an opportunity to share the fine work of photographers from all over the world with, well…the world! I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.

Great job on this shot. As Rick said, the exposure is dead-on.

This is such a lovely photograph. I love how the full moon and bright lights contrast with stark darkness in the foreground and the silhouette of the mountains in back.

Strikes a good balance between the moon and the lights of the city, while still capturing a few stars in the dark sky. Very nicely done!

This is an exceptional shot given the difficulty of the lighting. Perfect exposure and clarity!
