A “moody” view of the Golden Gate Bridge

This is a three exposure HDR image of the Golden Gate Bridge as taken from Marshall Beach in the beautiful city of San Francisco. This was my second time here and I wanted to capture the moody clouds and restless waters. I figured the best way to do that was to try to create an HDR image.

Here are the camera and settings used to capture the three photos from which the HDR image was created:

Camera: Canon EOS 5D
Lens: 17-40mm L
Focal length: 28mm
Aperture (f/stop): f/10
ISO: 100

Now this is an amazing HDR!! I love how the perspective makes the rocks look humongous in relation to the bridge.

The Golden Gate is probably the most photographed bridge in the world but I’ve never seen it captured quite like this before. This is absolutely astounding Sir. I’m envious.

  8. Great job on the composition and post processing. The results are nothing short of incredible IMHO.

    I like it.

  13. What’s not to like? Everything about this pic is awesome.

  14. The strong HDR on this image creates a wonderful and almost surreal presentation. Very nice, Mitchell.

  15. Not normally a fan of “over-the-top” HDR, but I like this a lot! Especially like how the slow shutter has softened the waves…

  16. Wow, thank you everyone for the very nice comments. I appreciate it very much. I’m not a big fan of HDR myself, but I thought I would try my hand at it. I hope you don’t get tired of looking at my pictures.:)

  17. Irene Handel says:

Don’t worry Mr. Tancio, if you keep submitting images like this we’ll gladly keep looking.

  20. Duncan says:

Lovely, the red of the bridge provides a great contrast against the natural colours of the landscape.
