This was taken from the top of the Empire State Building at around 10 in the morning. The view looks south down Manhattan towards the Financial District.
The image is composed from 5 portrait orientation shots, each made up of 3 exposures using the camera’s exposure bracketing. The exposures were combined using Photomatix exposure fusion and then they were stitched into a panorama using Photoshop.

What an amazing view of the Big Apple! In my opinion there is no better vantage point for taking in the city than from atop the Empire State Building.
