Panoramic view of Gatlinburg, Tennessee

We’ve yet to get a real heavy snowfall this year, but when we do you can bet I’ll be out in it in my winter coat and wearing my homemade photographer’s gloves (those knit garden gloves with the rubber “nubbies” and the finger tips snipped off). But I’ll be hard pressed to find a prettier sight than what greeted me after one of last winter’s snowfalls. A smaller section of this panorama has been featured here before, but I thought the sheer grandeur of our Great Smoky Mountains merited another “broader” look.
This photo was created using five exposures stitched together in Autopano Pro. The camera used was a Nikon D40.

Gordon, I loved this photo when the smaller version of it was featured before. I also like this one very much!! The details and the color is top notch! This looks like just a beautiful place to live. Thanks for sharing it with us. Now about those homemade photographers gloves. It sounds like a great idea. I may have to give this a try.
Gordon, I believe you caught the majesty of the Smoky Mountains, here. So many thousands of people look out over this exact view point every year and they get an excellent view of Gatlinburg and the National Park. Very few ever get to experience the wonderful view you captured in this photograph, though. I am glad you made it up there that morning.
Beautiful!
Having lived here now for a little over 30 years, I am sometimes guilty of taking my surroundings for granted. But just about the time I’m getting a little jaded I come across a view like this and I am instantly cured. I’m also reminded how special this place is by the many visitors who have told me they have been all over the world and they have seen places that might equal the splendor of the Smokies, but none more beautiful. Thanks for your kind comments, and my best wishes for a wonderful holiday season to all our TodaysPhoto friends.
Wow Gordon, such a great photo! Next time I’m in Gatlinburg I’m gonna try to find your vantage point and check out this scene in person!
Superb job on the stitching Gordon! Outstanding in every way in fact.
I remember seeing the original in this series and it was great. The pano is even better IMO. Keep up the great work Mr. Brugman.
