“Toronto in silhouette”

The Toronto skyline has been photographed countless times over the years, but this shot by photographer Tony Tran is a bit different from most. Mr. Tran took this photograph while aboard a ferry on Lake Ontario, capturing the city’s skyline in silhouette along with a lone boater who just happened to be drifting by at the time. I think the colors in this photo are wonderful, as is the composition.

The number of different ways to photograph a given scene is limited only by the number of photographers who are interested in giving it a go. With just a little variety in strategy and technique, the common can become quite extraordinary. And so it is with this wonderful picture.

The camera and settings used to capture this image:

Camera: Canon EOS 350D
Lens: Canon 50mm f/1.8
Shutter speed: 1/500
Focal length: 50 mm
Aperture: f/1.8
ISO: 100

Toronto is indeed a beautiful city, and I have never seen it photographed quite like this. The boat adds a lot to the image too.
