The Double Ring Galaxies of ARP 147

NASA.
ARP 147 is an interacting galaxy system containing the two "ring
galaxies" pictured above. These galaxies collided with one another,
and the result is the interesting "ring" shape that each of them
took on after they passed through one another. The amazing
Hubble Space Telescope captured this image just last October,
proving once again that it is worth every penny it takes to maintain
and operate it.
Our universe is an amazing place, immense beyond measure. It is
simply jam-packed with beautiful and interesting heavenly bodies
that capture our imagination and fuel our desire to learn ever more
about God's numerous extra-terrestrial creations. And thanks to the
Hubble Space Telescope and our tireless robotic explorers we're
learning more and more all the time.
