Louisiana's Atchafalaya Basin at dusk

If you're like most people, you probably have a hard time believing
that a swamp can be photogenic, but after checking out this picture
of Louisiana's
Atchafalaya Basin at dusk as captured by
photographer David Jonze, you just might change your mind.
The Atchafalaya Basin is the largest swamp in the United States.
Although few humans live there, the area is home to many species of
plant and animal life which makes it a favorite spot for hunters,
fishermen, birdwatchers, and those who just love the outdoors.
I like this image very much. Not only is it strikingly beautiful,
but the colorful reflections combined with the silhouettes of the
trees and Spanish Moss almost make the place appear to be "haunted".
It isn't of course, but I would be quite apprehensive about going in
there all by myself, especially at night. But go Mr. Jonez did, and
the result is the "Picture of the Day".
