Skydivers "jumping" out of a hot air balloon

Photo courtesy of Michael Reyes.   Our otherwise highly intelligent daughter Amy has been doing something a bit crazy on a regular basis for the last few years - skydiving - and this past weekend she outdid herself by "jumping" from a hot air balloon! During this years Skyfest at Skydive Carolina, Amy and her friend Andrea joined a bunch of other moe-rons (intelligent people who do not-so-intelligent things) in hopping aboard a hot air balloon, climbing VERY high into the sky, and then jumping out into the open air where they then proceed to free-fall for several thousand feet before deploying their parachutes and floating gracefully to the ground. (Thanks to Michael for use of the amazing picture!) I suppose we all have an activity or two that really gets our hearts pumping, but so far mine have kept my feet planted firmly on mother earth. Amy and her "skydiving friends" absolutely love jumping out of perfectly good airplanes (well, functional airplanes at least), and now they have taken the big plunge from a hot-air balloon! Moe-rons, I tell you! Moe-rons! But they're wonderful people nonetheless. Congratulations on your big jump Amy!     Visitor Comments...
