The Chicago skyline at night

Chicago,
Illinois is one of America's great cities, drawing thousands
of visitors each year for conferences and business meetings as well
as those who come simply to vacation on the shore of
Lake Michigan,
take in a Cubs game, or experience the sights and sounds of the
Windy City from atop one of her famous skyscrapers. Today's picture
features a spectacular nighttime view of the Chicago skyline as seen
from atop the
John Hancock Tower.
A few years ago I had the opportunity to visit Chicago myself, and
it was quite an experience walking down Michigan Avenue on a brisk
October morning, looking up at buildings so tall that their tops
were hidden behind the clouds. Later, after taking in an afternoon
baseball game at
Wrigley Field and visiting a nearby museum, I made
my way over to the
Sears Tower
where I was treated to a magnificent view of the city just as the
sun was going down. Let me tell you, that was an experience I'll
never forget! My only regret is that the weather was so bad the next
day that I didn't get to walk along the Lake Michigan shoreline as I
had planned.
Photographer Jon Uhler captured this amazing image early last month
using a Canon EOS 40D equipped with a 24-70 2.8 L lens. You can see
lots more of Jon's stunning images in his
Flickr gallery.
