Glen & Tonnie's "Flagpole Christmas Tree"

Glen's Christmas Flagpole

My brother Glen and sister-in-law Tonnie decided to do something a bit different this year by turning their flagpole into a giant Christmas tree. The idea was simple: stretch several strings of Christmas lights from the top of the flagpole to the ground at an angle, creating a splash of color in the shape of a tree!

Since the flagpole was so tall and the lights so far apart, in order to make the "tree" visible from a distance he decided to use the same type of large "old-fashioned" bulbs that most people used when I was growing up. And it worked perfectly! As they drove around the neighborhood they could see their "flagpole Christmas tree" from several vantage points as it lit up the night.

Being the patriotic folks that they are, Glen and Tonnie can't wait to get their beautiful American flag back up and flying high above their house, but this Christmas their beloved flagpole will serve as a beacon for Santa, Rudolph and the gang. After all, "Little Glen" and Jason don't want Santa to miss Grandpa and Grandma's house!
