Today's picture comes to us from good friend and frequent
contributor Ron Trees. Here is his story behind the image:
"The last couple of weeks I have been away and really missed not
being able to view the great photos at TodaysPhoto.org, but I was
out trying to capture some of the beautiful scenery that our
Heavenly Father has created for us. One of the scenic areas that
Oregon is known for is Crater Lake. It is a location that many
photographers like to visit. I have seen many pictures over the
years of this great area, but I have never been there before.
Well,
I was able to spend part of a day up there and enjoyed it
immensely!! I would have liked to have spent the whole day
up there!
My oldest daughter and her husband live in Grants Pass, Oregon.
We
went to visit them and it was in the triple digits there. Going
up
to Crater Lake was a very welcome relief as the temperature
dropped
to the high 60’s. There was still snow on the ground. The
water in
Crater Lake is the bluest that I have ever seen. It truly
is a feast
for the eyes!I took many pics trying to capture the place
as well as I know how.
I did stay for the sunset, which any of the
frequent visitors here,
know is one of my favorite times of day.
Well along with the beauty
of the sunset came more mosquitoes than I
have ever seen in my
life!!!! Any bare skin was instantly covered.
That was not the most
pleasant experience, but the sunset was worth
it. I hope that you
also enjoy it. This photo is an HDR photo using
Photomatix to combine
3 bracketed photos and then finished in Adobe
Lightroom.
If you ever find yourself in Oregon and in the area of Crater
Lake,
please stop by. You will not be disappointed."

Every day I enjoy looking at the pictures of the day. I have a
special place in my heart for the pictures of my friend Ron.
Sometimes I see the headings of the picture names and just know it
has to be his. I thank you Ron for another wonderful picture. Being
a fellow photographer, I also would like to say how much I love
seeing the beautiful pictures from around the world (and sometimes
beyond) on this web page. Thank you to Rick, all the photographers
and the Creator!

That's a really great shot Ron! I appreciate the pleasure and the
pain (mosquitoes!) it took for you to share it with us. And so happy
that we could see this lovely part of world through your talents and
generosity.

My buddy Ron has done a magnificent job on this image. He is a
kindred spirit in many ways, including his desire to create HDR
images that portray the reality of the scene without going
“overboard” into the realm of the surreal. Great job, Ron, kudos!

Thanks for all for your comments, I truly appreciate each one. Being
a guest here at this great site has earned me some friendships with
some really great people. Chances are that I will never meet any of
you in person, but I hope to meet each of you someday at our big
home in the sky. I love landscape photography and all of the beauty
of this earth will pale in the light of what I believe our Father
has in store for us. Again, thanks for your kind words and your
friendship. I will be looking for you! |
