Cuba's setting sun

Yesterday's picture featured a colorful
Key West,
Florida sunrise, and today I thought we might stay in that part
of the world and pay a photographic visit to the island of Cuba
where this spectacular seaside sunset displayed a few magnificent
colors of its own.
Cuba is a land of steep contrasts. Lying a mere 90 odd miles from
the most prosperous nation on earth, her people live in desperate
poverty under the hammer-like thumb of the island nation's communist
regime. God blessed Cuba with some of the world's most stunning
scenery and amazing beaches, making her a tropical paradise that
used to draw vacationers from all around the world.
But today Cuba's
once-flourishing tourism industry is no more, and her citizens are
among the poorest in the western hemisphere. I guess it would be
fair to say that modern-day Cuba truly is a paradise lost.
I have often wondered why some of the planet's most beautiful places
are inhabited by some of its most destitute people, especially in
places like Cuba where an open and free society could live quite
well on the bounty that their Creator has blessed them with. I thank
the good Lord every day that He blessed me with the good
fortune of being born in the
United States of America.
