Another gorgeous autumn day in Damascus, Virginia

A couple of days ago Cheria and I took a leisurely drive down to
Backbone Rock, and in order to get there we had to drive through
the beautiful town of
Damascus, Va. Damascus is one of those small American towns
that makes you feel right at home the first time you visit, and
plenty of visitors drop in to hike and bike the trails every year.
The streets and alleys of "Trail Town, USA" come alive in the fall
when the leaves on the maples, oaks, and shumakes change colors and
transform the landscape into one huge, multi-colored mosaic. This is
a wonderful time of the year to drop in, and cameras are pretty much
required should you decide to do so!
The hills and "hollers" of southwestern Virginia boast some of the
most spectacular autumn scenes that you'll find anywhere on the
planet, and Damascus seems to have more than its fair share. Drop in
some time and check it out for yourself... You just might decide you
never want to leave!
