A Peaceful Sunday Morning In Damascus, Va

Cheria and I arrived at our Damascus, Va church a little earlier than usual on Sunday morning, so I decided to take a stroll down Laurel Avenue - the scenic town's "Main Street". In less than a month, autumn will have to move along and make way for winter so I wasn't really expecting to find much in the way of colorful fall scenery left in downtown Damascus. But... As I began walking along the sidewalk, I noticed plenty of orange and brown leaves still lying on the ground and piled up against the curbs. In fact, there were quite a few of them still stubbornly clinging to several of the trees that line the street. Perhaps I could capture one last image of autumn in Damascus after all? I gave it my best shot, and today's photo is what I came up with. Damascus is a beautiful town all year long, not just during the fall season. But there are still plenty of bright, sunny days ahead that will be just right for hiking and biking the scenic Virginia Creeper Trail during one of the most pleasant times of the year!   Submit a photo                       Picture of the day archives
