On March 15, the amazing Space Shuttle Discovery lifted off
from Kennedy Space Center's Launch Pad 39A, the start of yet another
round-trip journey to the International Space Station. Dubbed
Mission STS-119, the primary purpose of this visit was to install
the last of the orbiting outpost's "solar array wing" panels,
bringing the ISS to it's full operating power. STS-119 marked NASA'a
125th shuttle flight.
As always, the nighttime launch created a spectacular scene as the
fiery exhaust from the shuttle's main engines turned night into day,
literally taking the breath away from everyone who was there to
witness the awesome event.

I have always wanted to witness a shuttle launch, and I just might
get around to it sometime this summer. I think today's picture has
really spurred me to action...

This photograph is simply amazing. I had no idea that a space
shuttle launch was such a magnificent sight! I'm going to have to
schedule my next Florida vacation to coincide with one of these
awesome events!
