Dolphins are amazing animals. Although they have fins and make their
homes in the sea, they aren't fish. They are actually mammals, and
they must break the surface of the water on a regular basis in order
to fill their lungs with air. Curious and friendly, these beautiful
creatures can often be seen up-close and personal by folks who
venture into their domain.
Photographer Pam Wood serendipitously encountered the friendly
fellow featured in today's picture during a recent visit to the
Bahamas, and the following is her story behind the image:
"Out on a scuba diving excursion in the Bahamas, this Dolphin
popped up next to the boat as if to say "Hi, welcome to the
Bahamas". I quickly picked up my camera with my shaking
hands and
was rewarded with this image. This is an example
of what I refer to
as 'PhotoKarma'." --Pam Wood

Amazing photo... almost doesn't look real! What a stroke of luck to
have a curious dolphin surface so close and offer you such a
fabulous photo op. That alone would be worth the cost of the trip
for me!
