Picture of the day - July 21, 2008
"Double Rainbow"

Every once in a while I receive a "Picture of the Day" submission
where the photographer wishes to remain anonymous, and in almost
every case the photograph itself is simply outstanding. Today's
picture is a perfect example.
All I know about this image other than its obvious beauty is that
the photographer is a resident of Stockholm, Sweden, so I'm guessing
that the gorgeous scene above is fairly close to that wonderful
city. Whoever the photographer is, he/she certainly managed to
capture the scene at its most magnificent with the primary and
secondary rainbows accenting perfectly the colors of the bright
sunlight, dark blue sky, and red and white buildings and boats.
According to the Genesis account of the 40 day long deluge and
resulting earth-covering flood, after the rain had subsided God gave
mankind the rainbow and a promise that He will never again destroy
the earth by water. In this picture, those spectacular twin bands of
multi-colored light are a sign that the rain has passed and all is
well. What a beautiful sight to behold!
