Picture of the day -

Early morning reflections in Abingdon, Va

Cheria and I were traveling down U.S. Route 19 in Abingdon, Virginia
early this morning when this beautiful autumn scene caught our
attention. Although we were in sort of a hurry, we both agreed that
we just had to turn
around and go back to take a picture or two...well, we
actually ended up taking about 30 pictures!
I liked this picture the most because it really illustrates the
beauty of fall in the Mountain Empire. Unlike most of the trees
around here this year, this pair was still clinging fast to most of their
colorful leaves which cast a nice reflection on the pond
below. What's more, if you look closely in the shadows at the edge
of the pond, you'll see the remnants of the very first frost of the
season!
We drive past this pond quite often, and one of us always seems to
comment on what a lovely photograph it would make, but for one
reason or another we have never taken the time to stop and take one.
Well, this morning the view was just too good to pass up!
