"Easter"

Today is Easter Sunday, the day of the year on which
Christians all around the world celebrate the resurrection of our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. On a fateful Friday some 2,000 years
ago a contingent of Roman soldiers nailed a condemned Jesus to an
old rugged cross atop a hill named Golgotha, and six agonizing hours
later His lifeless body hung limply between heaven and earth. His
execution completed, He was then taken down and buried in a borrowed
tomb where His broken body laid for three days...
But on the following Sunday morning something truly miraculous
happened. Angels rolled away the massive stone that blocked the
entrance to the tomb, and the resurrected Christ walked out under
His own power. By allowing His spirit to re-enter His lifeless,
broken-down body, Jesus single-handedly defeated death, hell, and
the grave - and He also gave us sinners a chance at redemption by
paying a debt that we all owed, but none of us could ever hope to
repay.
The Friday evening on which our Saviour died was horribly dark and
dreary, but that very first Easter Sunday was the most beautiful day
this earth has ever been blessed with.
