Sunrise On Elba Island

Jonathan Dale.
The Italian island of Elba is perhaps best known for being the home
of Napoleon Bonaparte during his first period of exile, but today
Elba
is a very popular tourist destination. Photographer Jonathan Dale
captured this beautiful image of an Elba sunrise while vacationing
on the island. Here is his story behind the image:
"This picture was taken last week during a short visit to Elba
Island,
which is just off the west coast of Italy. My wife and I had
traveled
there to research some articles on the island for various
travel
publications.
At 6:30 am the day after we arrived, we wandered
the few hundred
yards from the Hotel Ilio to the beach at Cap
St Andrea to watch
the
sunrise.
This image was one of the first that I took and only
partly
reflects
the glorious sight that met us. Joined by two local
cats,
we all
watched in silence as the sun climbed ever higher bathing
the
sea
and surrounding mountains in a warm morning glow. Eyes
satiated,
cats and humans went their separate ways and so began
another
wonderful day on Elba. For more of my pictures please visit
