Fall colors in Northeast Tennessee

Rick Rouse.
Since yesterday's picture featured a
colorful autumn scene from the
hills of Southwestern Virginia (where I grew up and currently live),
I thought it only fair to give equal time to our neighboring state
of Tennessee. Since Washington County, VA borders on the Volunteer
State, all I had to do was drive a few short miles to get the job
done.
After driving the short distance from the lovely town of
Damascus to
Backbone Rock, I got out and began taking pictures of the famous
monolith, dodging cars in between shots. I wasn't really having much
luck getting a shot I liked, so I turned around to look for a better
vantage point only to see this scene that had been right behind me
the entire time.
Sometimes it pays not to focus so intensely on a single subject when
we're out taking pictures. If only we'll take the time to look
around there's no telling what kind of images we might end up with.

Mr. Rouse,
Love all your Autumn photos, especially this one today. I have not
been to Backbone Rock since I was very young and have wanted to do
so every Autumn but have not made it yet. Thank you for the
beautiful photos and I also enjoy all your comments.
