Picture of the day - November 14, 2008
"Fog on the lake"

Today's picture is a fine example of the magic that can happen when
a photographer stumbles upon the right place, under the right
conditions, at the right time of day.
By experimenting just a bit with the exposure, he/she managed to
"create" a scene where the setting sun and distant fog combined to
create some beautiful, yet rather haunting silhouettes and
reflections in the perfectly-still water of an unnamed lake. I guess
it just goes to show that a little imagination, lots of skill, and
just a bit of serendipity often work hand-in-hand to give you a lot
more than you might have expected in return for your efforts.
For whatever reason, the photographer who submitted this gorgeous
image chose to remain anonymous.

Simply stunning image. I'm sure the photographer has his/her
reasons, but if I had managed to come away with something like this
I would certainly want to take credit for it. I love it!

Indeed a wonderful photograph. I took one quite similar a couple of
years ago and I have never been able to create that same kind of
magic again. I agree - hauntingly beautiful...
