Foggy Morning In Southwestern Virginia

It was quite a foggy morning at our place near Abingdon, Virginia, but by the time I got dressed and made it out the door with my camera much of the fog had already disappeared. But I decided to take a walk along the creek bank anyway hoping to get a good shot or two. Today's picture is what I ended up with. I love walking along the creek that runs through our property because the scene changes along with the seasons, the weather and the time of day. Most of the leaves have now fallen from the trees and the grass has turned brown in spots, but we still have some relatively warm days on occasion. Winter is definitely on its way, but autumn is still hanging on for dear life. The rural areas of southwestern Virginia are always beautiful, but spring and fall are my favorite seasons by far. They are seasons of transition, magically transforming the landscape from bland to stunning. Their bright and varied colors add a third dimension to the world around us and remind us that God wants us to enjoy His creations.   Submit a photo                       Picture of the day archives
