Respecting Old Glory

The American Flag, Old Glory, The Stars & Stripes...

Whatever you choose to call our beautiful flag is fine with me as long as you treat her with the honor and respect she so richly deserves. Ever since the dawn of our nation she has waved proudly in one form or another over our public buildings, our churches, our homes, our battlefields, and the graves of those who fought and died defending the ideals of liberty and freedom she so well represents.

For us Americans, there is no higher honor than being allowed by our Creator to live in the shadow of Old Glory. There is no stronger feeling of pride than the one we feel when we salute her, and there is no greater duty than to serve and protect the wonderful nation she so proudly flies over. This is no ordinary piece of fabric. This is the Flag of the United States of America, the most free and generous country on the face of the planet, and she must always be honored and respected if we desire to remain the brightest beacon of freedom in a troubled world.

Like most Americans, you have probably witnessed at least one military funeral where one of our proud veterans was laid to rest in a casket draped in red, white and blue while an honor guard saluted and played Taps. If so, do you remember the care and precision used in the folding and presentation of the flag to the departed one's next of kin?

That high level of care and precision epitomizes the honor and respect we owe to our precious Flag. May she always fly high, waving crisply in the breeze as she stands sentinel over our great land and the ideals upon which it was founded. And may she never be tarnished by those who have sworn a duty to honor and respect her while serving in elected office. To that end, we Americans should demand that those we elect to represent us must always bear in mind and strive to live up to these three simple, yet oh so powerful words:

Duty, Honor, Country.

What a great picture "Respecting Old Glory" is!! It, along with the the thoughts written down under the picture, are the reasons that I enjoy this site so much. So much of the world, and unfortunately too many right here in our own country, are ready to tear our great nation down. It is very comforting to open up this website EVERY DAY, and know that God and country are honored and spoken about here!
