Wintertime in the Great Smoky Mountains is a sight to behold, and
today's picture by photographer Gordon Brugman brings us a rather
tempting taste of the region's spectacular beauty. Here are a few
words from Mr. Brugman about the image:
"Gatlinburg, Tennessee sits in the shadow of the Great Smoky
Mountains following a March snowfall. The Great Smoky Mountains
National Park is the most visited National Park in the United
States,
drawing between 8 to 10 million visitors a year. The
majority of
those visitors enter through the Gatlinburg entrance to
the Park.
Gatlinburg is an interesting mix of mountain village (Population
under 6000) and tourist mecca. As long as 25 years ago it could
host
over 30,000 people a night, and it has only grown over
the years."

Gatlinburg must surely be the most visited small town in America,
and with scenery like this it's no wonder. Gorgeous view you have

Snow on the mountains in Tennessee. I remember it well from my last
visit to the Smokies in 2005. I took tons of pictures, but none of
them turned out like this.
