Autumn in the North Georgia Mountains

Kyle Burdg.
The hills and mountains of New England are famous for providing
"leaf peepers" with mile after mile of spectacular scenery every
fall, and for good reason. But as today's picture by photographer
Kyle Burdg clearly shows, the southern Appalachians are pretty easy
on the eyes as well.
Every year as summer turns into fall, the leaves start changing
colors in the northern Appalachians, and day by day and week by week
God's magnificent mosaic slowly expands southward until it reaches
the range's southern tip way down in Georgia. As the colors move
south, each town, city and rural area that lies along the "route"
takes its turn at basking in the glow of the peak of its "leaf season".
With this wonderful photograph, Mr. Burdg managed to capture every
"ounce" of beauty available when the colors were at their very best!
The following is his story behind the image:
"This picture was taken in mid-November of this year in the North
Georgia mountains. The route from Helen, GA to Hiawassee takes
you
through about 10 miles (a guess) and probably 40 turns. This
is a
great area to drive through any time of the year, and I was
happy
to
catch the last good weekend of the fall colors before the
leaves
fell off." --Kyle Burdg
