Picture of the day - November 20, 2008
"Glass in nature"

Yesterday's picture featured a gorgeous view of the
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania skyline, and as luck would have it
today's picture by photographer Jim Bougher features a rather
intriguing scene from Pittsburgh's
Phipps
Conservatory. What you're looking at is part of a "Blown Glass"
exhibit that is on permanent display at the Conservatory. And as you
can see here, when modern art meets nature the result can be quite
striking.

Quite intriguing indeed. I would never have conceived such a concept
myself, but it surely works, and works well. Great job in capturing
such a beautiful image Mr. Bougher!

When I was growing up in Latrobe, our family visited Pittsburgh
often and I still travel up there several times a year to visit
family and friends. I have never been to the Phipps Conservatory,
but after seeing this wonderful photograph I plan to check it out on
my next visit.
