March 30, 2007 "Gold Heart"
Singing At
The Pickin' Porch

"Gold Heart" (L-R) Sisters
Shelby, Analise and Jocelyn Gold
As always, last night's
Pickin' Porch
Show featured two hours of great Bluegrass Music and comedy, and the highlight
of the evening turned out to be a standout performance by a
super-talented group of youngsters known as
Gold
Heart.
The Gold sisters delighted the audience by pickin' and singin' one
great tune after another, a number of which were written by Jocelyn
who is already an accomplished songwriter at the tender age of 14. Big sister and group leader Analise (17) did an
outstanding job on vocals and mandolin while 11 year old Shelby knocked our
socks off with her amazing fiddle and powerful voice.
It quickly became evident that while these young ladies are
accomplished musicians with a stage presence that belies their youth, where
they really shine is on vocals. As sisters, their powerful voices
blend together perfectly to create a sweet family harmony that is nothing
short of perfect. In fact, you would be hard-pressed to find a more
beautiful set of voices anywhere on the planet, including Nashville.
From what I had read on
their
website, I thought I knew pretty much what to expect from their
performance, but once the Gold sisters started singing I realized
that we were in for a rare treat - and I certainly wasn't
disappointed. Well, actually I was a bit disappointed because we
only got to hear them for a little over half an hour in total.
Hopefully they'll return to the Pickin' Porch stage sometime
soon and pick and sing for the entire two hours. Now that will be a
real treat!
