A Greenland Snowscape

Contrary to its name, Greenland is one of the coldest, most
desolate places on earth. With most of its land mass lying within
the arctic circle, Greenland's winters are very long and cold and
darkness covers the northern region for months at a time.
But as you can see from today's picture, Greenland is also a land of
beauty and mystique. Rocky mountain peaks rise upward from an
endless sea of snow creating a winter wonderland the likes of which
most Americans will never see in person.
Mr. Bob Mead took this beautiful photograph of the Greenland
landscape. Here, in his own words is a little background info:
When flying over Greenland it is a rare treat to be able to see
anything at all as the continent always seems to be shrouded in
clouds. I was fortunate to find this window in the clouds for a
brief period of time and got off several shots of this beautiful
mountain snowscape below.
I was amazed how well the pictures came out considering they were
shot through a commercial airliner window from 40,000 feet. This
shot
was one of my favorites. Hope you enjoy!Shutter speed: 1/500
Aperture: f 5.6
Post Processing - Just a touch of contrast and sharpness in
Photoshop.
