Grinnell Lake

John Sieber.
Montana's Glacier
National Park boasts some of the world's most breathtaking
scenery, and in today's picture photographer John Sieber has managed
to beautifully capture Grinnell Lake, one of the park's many
magnificent natural features. The following is Mr. Sieber's story
behind the image:
"This photograph was taken during September of this year on
our
way to Grinnell Glacier in Glacier National Park. Taken from
the
Grinnell Glacier Trail at around 3:20 in the afternoon there
was
already considerable shadow to the right of the frame due
to the
steep pitch. The six mile hike up to the glacier from the
Many
Glacier area of the park provides a tremendous amount
of
photographic opportunity.
The shot was taken with a Canon 40D and a Tokina 12-24mm
f/4 lens.
The camera was in manual mode - 1/40", f/13 and
ISO 200. A circular
polarizer was also used to bring out color
in the sky."

I visited Glacier National Park in the summer of 2005. While there I
took over 300 photos of the gorgeous scenery, including several of
Grinnell Lake from virtually the same spot as this one. This picture
puts mine to shame - and I always thought they were quite good.
Kudos to the photographer for a fine job indeed!

Absolutely beautiful photo!!!! I really would like to visit Glacier
National Park. I have seen some very impressive photos from there,
and this one is one of the best. I am glad that you took that hike
Mr. Sieber!
