Picture of the day - January 1, 2008

Happy New Year - It's 2008!

Well, another year has come and gone, and yet another chapter in this great story that we call life has been written upon our hearts and tucked safely away in our memories. And as it is with most years, 2007 had its up and downs, but hope springs eternal for even better times in the year to come. As we prepare to get started on 2008, here are a few "mays" that I hope will come to pass beginning on this New Year's Day morning... May we waste as few checks as possible before we get used to writing 2008 instead of 2007.   May this winter season bring lots of much-needed rain and snow to help alleviate the drought that we're currently struggling through.   May we all endeavor to be kinder to one another than we have ever been.   May our brave men and women in uniform return home safely, and as soon as possible.   May our nation's enemies come to realize that mutual respect and freedom for all is the shortest path to true peace and happiness, and may they also come to understand that we Americans take our freedom and unique way of life very seriously, and that we are prepared to defend them with everything we have, bar nothing, including our very lives if need be.   May our elected leaders at all levels make wise decisions and put the good of their constituents and their country ahead of their own self-interests.   May our judges make wise and fair decisions that are based upon the principles set forth in our constitution and the laws of the land rather than legislating from the bench.   May the Good Lord continue to bless the United States of America, and may we return the favor by serving Him, worshipping Him, and trying our best to live our lives according to His will.   And most importantly of all, may those among us who are lost come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour before it is everlastingly too late!
