Picture of the day - January 1, 2009
Happy New Year...It's 2009!
Well, 2008 is now but a memory, and in many ways it was a pretty
tough year. But hope springs eternal, and every day that God gives
us is another tremendous blessing even during the roughest of times.
As we embark upon the journey that will be 2009, let us always
remember that all good things come from God, and He alone knows what
is best for us. May we always be thankful for the things we have, in
prayer for the things we need, and mindful that the Almighty is
always in charge. As mere humans we might not always understand how
some events that take place down here could possibly fit in to His
master plan, but indeed they do. We just have to trust Him.
Just 20 short days from now we Americans will watch yet another
peaceful transition of power take place in our nation's capitol. As
President Obama hefts the burden of running the affairs of our great
country onto his shoulders, may he be wise enough to seek the Lord's
guidance in all matters, strong enough to make the hard decisions
that will surely come his way, and humble enough to put the good of
the nation above his own ambitions and ego.
Let us in turn support him when we agree with him, respectfully
challenge him when we don't, and pray for him always. Whether we
voted for him or not, he will be our President for at least
the next four years. For the good of our nation we need to put
politics aside and pray for his success in making the United States
a stronger and better country.
2009 will be a year filled with great challenges and great
opportunity, and with the help of our most gracious God we can make
the most of it. Happy New Year everyone!
