Harvest display in Sutherland, TN

Rick Rouse.
We drove up to
Backbone Rock yesterday afternoon hoping to see the monolith
draped in the first hint of fall colors - but to no avail. Although
many parts of our region are now sporting those familiar shades of
red, orange and yellow that come with the season, for the most part
the trees in the Backbone Rock National Recreation Area are still
"green as grass". Nonetheless, it was quite beautiful down there as
always.
While driving back to nearby
Damascus,
Virginia I happened to notice this rather
festive-looking harvest display adorning a lawn in the tiny rural
community of
Sutherland, Tennessee. Someone had taken a
well-preserved horse-drawn buggy (minus the horse of course) and
decorated it with baskets of mums, a few strategically placed autumn
leaves and the mandatory helping of pumpkins.
It was a very pretty
sight indeed, so I stopped the car and got out to take a few
pictures. I liked this one the best, and I hope you like it as well.
You've gotta love this special time of year in rural America!

Hopeful anticipation, the search for beauty in nature and in
imaginative creations by mankind. That's why I love photography,
especially in the fall. Your story and wonderful photo are the
perfect expression of that. Nice job Rick...thanks for sharing!
