Picture of the day -
July 3, 2007 A spectacular vista...from a hayfield!

As today's picture shows, some of the world's most beautiful scenery
can be found in the most unlikely places. Photographer Mary Blevins
was helping her husband load hay when she looked up and saw this
stunning image from her vantage point out in the middle of the
hayfield. What a pleasant surprise it must have been!
Most of us enjoy taking vacations in exotic locales every once in a
while, but we really don't have to travel all that far to find a
magnificent vista or a relaxing landscape to soothe our psyches or
refresh our "batteries" whenever they need it. All we really need to
do is walk outside and look around us. God has given us many
wonderful opportunities for finding beauty and comfort in His
creations - if we are willing to take the time to seek them out! And
quite often, as in Mary's case, we don't even have to go looking for
them...we only need to open our eyes!
Mary is practically my neighbor as she lives "just up the road a
piece" in rural Smyth County, Virginia. An excellent photographer,
she is always on the lookout for a great photo opportunity, and I
love it when she takes the time to send me one of her latest
"finds"!
