"Helen riding her horse"

My sister Helen has always been a huge animal lover. In fact, I
can't remember a time when we were growing up when she didn't have a
dog, a cat, a rabbit or a pony, and quite often she would have more
than one furry friend running around our farm and/or house at a
time.
These days she and her husband Roger share their home with a cat as
well as enough hyperactive Shih Tzu's to keep them hopping like
they're walking on glowing hot coals. But as of late it's her horses
that keep Helen occupied whenever she feels like spending some time
outdoors. And although she has just recovered from both a broken
wrist and a broken elbow after being thrown from her mount, as you
can see in today's picture she's right back in the saddle once
again.
Helen and Roger have several beautiful equines to keep them
occupied, and they also have a number of friends and family members
who stop in on a regular basis to go horseback riding with them.
Personally, I'm not all that interested in hopping onto the back of
an animal that's a lot bigger and stronger than I am, not to mention
one that tends to have "a mind of its own". But Helen loves her
horses, and caring for them and taking them out for rides makes her
(and them) quite happy. I guess that's all that really matters isn't
it?

Rick, I agree 100% with you on the subject of horses. My wife loves
them, I like looking at them. I have been on one a couple of times
in my life, but I do not have a huge desire to sit on something with
all of that “horsepower” that can have a mind of it’s own!! |
