Picture of the Day - June 15, 2009
"Hindelang"

Germany is home to some of the most magnificent vistas in Europe,
and today's picture by photographer Michael Marterer offers us a
beautiful view of the small, yet highly popular tourist town of
Hindelang (located in the German state of Bavaria). Mr.
Marterer took this photo of the town from atop the Oberjoch Pass.
A gorgeous landscape is a gorgeous landscape regardless of where it
happens to be on the planet's surface. This one is simply
spectacular, with the sun bursting through the clouds just enough to
illuminate the houses and the surrounding fields to perfection.
Outstanding job and a fine capture, Mr. Marterer!

It's often luck that puts us at the right place, at the right time.
But to have your camera on hand and the skill to take great
photographs as well, I have to believe there's a power guiding us
stronger than luck. Thanks Mr. Marterer, for sharing your talents
and that wonderfully captured scene with us.

What a magnificent scene Mr. Marterer! It looks like something we
might see in a "fantasy" movie.

To all: Many thanks for your comments. I'm very happy about your
compliments for the photo. I always have a "small" photo equimpent
in my car (Pentax K100D with 18-55 and 50-200zoom). This photo was
made with the 18-55 standard-kit-objektiv. You see - you can make
good photos with low budget equipment too :-)
Greetings from Germany, and excuse my bad English.
Michael
