A hummingbird striking a pose

Photo courtesy of Ron E. Trees.
My dad loved to sit on his porch and watch the hummingbirds dine at
his feeders, so every time I see one of these fast-flying little
creatures it reminds me of him. Today's picture features a beautiful
specimen from the Pacific Northwest. The following is photographer
Ron Trees' interesting story behind the image:
"We have the Hummingbird feeders out now and they are starting
to have
a few visitors. These little birds are one of Gods more
interesting
creations to me. They are so small and so fast. As
the summer goes
on, they seem to become less afraid of us and
hardly even care that
we are there close by.
In past years, I have had them come and land on my finger and
start
eating. I love to take pictures of them and this picture was
taken
yesterday. I stood on a ladder about 4 feet away. I was
using my
Sony A700 and the Tamron 70-300mm lens."
