Picture of the day -
May 23, 2008 "Iris Blossom"

Rick Rouse.
Yesterday evening
Cheria
and I went over to visit
my mom, and while we were there she asked
me to take a few pictures of her beautiful flowers. As always, she
had plenty to choose from, but I have always been partial to her
spectacular irises so I spent most of my "shooting time" focusing on
them.
As far back as I can remember, mom has always had a plethora of
colorful irises growing in her flower beds, and while they were all
gorgeous, the ones I have always liked the most are the purple ones.
Today's picture features a single blossom from this year's "crop".
Her irises are much like mom herself. Year after year they continue
to blossom, providing beauty, warmth and happiness for the people
she loves to enjoy. And although this beautiful lady is now
approaching her 81st birthday, she still lends a great measure of
life and love to a world which so desperately needs it.
It is my hope that like her lovely irises, mom will continue to
flourish and bring luster and joy to us all. And may every remaining
day of life that her beloved Lord wishes to grace her with bring her
all the joy she so richly deserves. I love you mom.

Your mother sounds a lot like mine - a real gem! And she always had
lots of irises growing in her garden as well.
