"The Island"

Michelle Dennis.
Islands have always fascinated me, especially the ones found out in
the midst of the deep blue sea. Back when traveling from continent
to continent by ship was always a literal life or death adventure,
islands provided refuge and safe haven for countless weary sailors
and passengers in times of trouble.
As a boy, I loved to read stories about famous seafarers and their
struggles against the elements, pirates and other sources of
misfortune, and it seemed that if there was a happy ending to be
found on the last pages, it usually involved finding an island
somewhere out in the middle of the deep.
While the tiny island featured in today's picture by photographer
Michelle Dennis probably wouldn't provide much protection during a
bad storm, it sure makes for a mighty beautiful photograph. What a
lovely peaceful scene!
