Sunset at Honolulu, Hawaii's Kakaako Park

Photographer Greg Edwards captured this stunning photo of a
magnificent sunset at Honolulu's Kakaako Park at 6:24 pm on the evening
of February 8. The following is his story behind the image:
"I'm brand new to photography and have been learning much from
those at
Photography On The Net, especially in the Macro forum. That is
where my initial interest lies. In fact, I was at the park
practicing my macro focusing on anything small I could find.
I was focused on this little Preying Mantis and literally looked up
and was greeted by this beautiful sunset. I was lucky that the tug
boat was motoring by. The previous shots I took are similar, but
there was no boat.
I think the tug adds more to the photo. It's not just another pretty
sailboat...or huge cruise ship...images commonly associated with
Hawaii. It's man's raw, powerful tug boat contrasted with nature's
raw, powerful sunset. The next few frames I took show the large
barge the tug was towing filled with all the goods we consume.
Again, a contrast not normally linked to Hawaii. People do live here
and we need supplies!
Personally I enjoyed the extremes I had just moved between when
taking the photos...first engrossed in taking very detailed, close
up images of something so tiny and beautifully bizarre (the Mantis),
then looking up to witness the brilliant light display of our solar
systems biggest player!
The photo taken with a Canon EOS 5D and 100mm macro lens, with
foreground flash. Shutter speed 1/200, Aperture F/2.8 and ISO 100."
