Every Thursday night the
Pickin' Porch
stage in Bristol, Virginia comes alive with the sweet sounds of the
Appalachians. Whether it's Bluegrass Music, Celtic, Old-Time,
Classic Country or Americana, you can rest assured that whoever
takes the stage on a given night will deliver a performance that
will knock your socks off!
Last night's entertainment was provided by
Ken Scoggins & Miller
Creek, a fine Bluegrass group from South Carolina. Brothers Ken
and Bill Scoggins played guitar and bass respectively while Doug
Rankin demonstrated his considerable skills on the mandolin. The
trio took turns singing lead on a number of great tunes while
offering some of the most finely-tunes harmonies you will ever hear.
Along with The Pickin' Porch Show's own Tim White on banjo,
these guys really put on a great show.
The twin cities of Bristol, VA-TN are known the world over as the
"Birthplace of Country Music", and the region is home to some of
the finest pickers and singers on the planet. Many of these
wonderful folks volunteer their time and talents to bring the music
that began right here in these hills and hollers to life each and
every week on the Pickin' Porch stage, but fine groups like Ken
Scoggins & Miller Creek travel from afar to help do their part as
well - and we greatly appreciate it!
