Today's picture features a gorgeous lighthouse image from the great
state of Hawaii, a series of spectacular islands that are the
absolute crown jewels of the Pacific. Here is photographer Steve
Kang with his story behind the photograph:
"Kilauea Lighthouse is the northernmost point of the main
Hawaiian Islands. Built in 1913, it had the largest lens
of
its
kind and guided ships heading to and from the Orient.
In the 1970's
its light was turned off and this landmark was
replaced by a
low-maintenance light beacon.
My wife and I were in Kauai on our baby moon along with
another
couple who are also expecting. The men went on
photo shoots and
played golf while the women laid out and
got pregnancy massages. We
had a great, relaxing time
before our lives are turned upside down.
This shot was from the lookout right at the entrance to
the road
that leads down to the lighthouse. It was shot
at 24mm, f/22, 1/6
sec at 100ISO and a circular polarizer
was used."
