A Koala At Tower Hill Reserve

Andrew Mather.
This adorable Koala was photographed by Andrew Mather during a visit
to Australia's
Tower Hill
Reserve. Here is his story behind the image:
"The photo was taken at Tower Hill Reserve, just out of Warranmbool
at the western end of Victoria's famous
Great Ocean
Road. The Tower
Hill Reserve is located inside the crater of an extinct volcano which
was severely over-grazed until the 1950's,
when re-vegetation efforts
began.
There are numerous Koalas,
Kangaroos and Emus inhabiting the reserve,
many of which frequent
the picnic areas and are easily visible. At the
moment, the lake is
dry due to a very prolonged drought, but when
there is water, there
are also huge numbers of visiting waterfowl.
The picture was taken in the late afternoon on a cloudy day, so the
Koalas were just waking up and getting active, as they tend to sleep
during the day. The camera was a Canon EOS 400D, with the kit
75-300mm lens. The other details were: Exposure 1/320 sec, f 6.3
at
ISO 400."
