Clouds over Lake Wylie

Earlier in the week, Cheria and I had the pleasure of spending a few
days with our daughter Amy at her home in Wilmington, North
Carolina. We drove down last Monday to help out a bit as she
prepares to sell her Wilmington home and make the move to her new
one in South Carolina. Although much of our time was spent helping
her pack up her belongings and doing some yard work, we had a great
time on what will most likely be our last visit to the beautiful
port city.
On the way back to Virginia we took the "scenic route" and visited
Amy's new South Carolina property, and as soon as we pulled into the
driveway we immediately understood why she is so excited about it.
She has somehow managed to locate and purchase a beautiful two-story
log home sitting peacefully among the trees and wildlife on a large
wooded lot - the perfect "country" setting that just happens to be a
short 10 minute drive from town! The house and property are in need
of some serious repair and cleanup, but it won't be long before Amy
will be enjoying life on her magnificent "country estate".
When it came time to leave, Amy and Gene graciously offered to lead
us back to I-77, and on the way they took us to nearby Lake Wylie,
one of eleven picturesque lakes located on the Catawba River. Lake
Wylie's 13,443 acres straddle the NC/SC border, and the beautiful
spot featured in today's picture is a mere five minute drive from
Amy's place!
Cheria and I really enjoyed our trip to the Carolinas, and we look
forward to going back again very soon. And since her new place is
only half as far away from us as her old one, we'll be able to drive down
and visit Amy a lot more than we have in the past.
