When Cheria and I purchased our Meadowview, Virginia home a couple
of years ago, we noticed that the empty one-acre lot directly
adjacent to our house was also for sale. And of course we quickly
realized that if whoever ended up buying that lot built a new home
anywhere on it, it would almost certainly have to be erected quite close to our own house.
Now let me tell you, the prospect of having neighbors living so
close to us made us more than a little anxious. After all, we had
chosen this house over all the others we had looked at in large part
due to the obvious peace and quiet of the beautiful country setting,
but after thinking about the possibilities we began having visions
of dozens of hyper kids running around right next door, all the
while making tons of noise and causing all kinds of mischief.
Well, as things turned out our fears had been completely unfounded.
Instead of a family with a multitude of noisy children, a very nice
gentleman by the name of Larry bought the property and built a
beautiful log cabin on it. For about a year now we have been
privileged to have Larry and his beloved dog Diamond as our
next-door neighbors, and we simply couldn't be happier.
You see,
Larry is the perfect neighbor. You know, the kind of person who
"minds his own business" but is also quite eager to stop by and say
howdy and "shoot the breeze" for a few minutes whenever the
opportunity presents itself. In my opinion, we couldn't have found a
friendlier pair of "folks" to move in next door to us if we had went
out "shopping" for them. With any luck, Larry and Diamond will be
living right next door for many years to come!
